Fireworks at the racecourse on 7 November, Come From Away and RED for half term, the hospice Christmas market from 20 November and Cinderella from 27 November.

Half term in Hereford runs into Halloween this year, with the Courtyard’s run of Come From Away from Tuesday 20 October, RED in the woods at Queenswood, a Halloween raceday on Monday 26 October, then the St Michael’s Hospice fireworks at the racecourse on Saturday 7 November. After that the diary turns towards Christmas: the hospice’s Christmas market at Bartestree from 20 November, a new antiques fair at the racecourse on 22 November, and Cinderella opening at the Courtyard on Friday 27 November.

The Hereford company X-Entricity stage the musical (The Courtyard).
  • The Hereford Mysteries, Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October, 7.30pm to 10pm, Hereford Cathedral. Adults £10, children £6. The Bible story from Genesis to Revelation staged in the nave, with the recorded voice of Sir David Suchet, suitable from age 10 (Hereford Cathedral).
  • Westons Comedy Club, Friday 23 October, 8pm, The Courtyard. £15, age 18 and over. Up-and-coming circuit comics; the club returns on Friday 6 November (8pm), Friday 20 November (8.30pm) and Friday 27 November (8pm) (The Courtyard).

  • Fireworks, Saturday 7 November, 5pm to 9pm, Hereford Racecourse, the St Michael’s Hospice display. Advance tickets £8.50 an adult and £6.50 a child, £10 and £7 on the day.   • Remembrance Sunday Solemn Requiem, Sunday 8 November, 10am, Hereford Cathedral. A Requiem for the Fallen and Act of Remembrance with music by Duruflé; everyone is welcome. The Royal British Legion Field of Remembrance is in the Lady Arbour from 31 October to 12 November, and the cathedral is lit red (Hereford Cathedral).

  • G4 Christmas, Wednesday 18 November, 7.30pm to 9.30pm, Hereford Cathedral. The vocal group’s Christmas tour, with pre-show meet and greet tickets at 6pm; tickets are sold through the cathedral’s listing (Hereford Cathedral).
  • St Michael’s Hospice Christmas Market, Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November, St Michael’s Hospice, Bartestree, HR1 4HA. More than 30 local traders, indoors and under cover outside. Friday is an over-18s premium night, £20 with a drink and light supper, in two slots (5pm to 7pm, 7.30pm to 9.30pm). Saturday (10am to 2pm or 3pm to 7pm) and Sunday (10am to 2pm) are £10 an adult with children free. Advance tickets are required and parking is free on site (St Michael’s Hospice).
  • Festive Artisan Market, Saturday 21 November, 10am to 4pm, The Courtyard. Free entry. Stalls from local makers, artists and small businesses (The Courtyard).

  • Elijah, Saturday 21 November, 7.30pm to 10.30pm, Hereford Cathedral. Mendelssohn’s oratorio with Orchestra De Cymru conducted by Andrew Reid, and soloists Siân Dicker, Rachel Roper, Dominic Lee and Johannes Moore (Hereford Cathedral).
  • Antiques Fair, Sunday 22 November, 9am to 3pm, Hereford Racecourse. A new fair with indoor and outdoor stands (silver, jewellery, glass, furniture, militaria, paintings, ceramics). Admission £3, under-16s free, free parking; no dogs except assistance dogs (Hereford Racecourse).
  • The High Sheriff’s Charity Raceday, Wednesday 25 November, Hereford Racecourse. Gates 10.31am, first race 12.31pm, last race 3.37pm, seven jump races. Early bird admission £19 until 26 October; children aged 17 and under go free with a paying adult (Hereford Racecourse).
  • Cinderella, the Courtyard pantomime, opens Friday 27 November at 6.30pm (£12 to £14) and runs to Sunday 3 January. Opening weekend: Saturday 28 November at 2pm and 7pm, Sunday 29 November at 1pm (“last few tickets” on 17 October) and 5pm. Prices run from £12 to £33 over the whole run.   • Lyde Court Christmas Market, Saturday 28 November, 10am to 4pm, Lyde Court, HR1 3AE. Free entry. Local independent stallholders in the 17th-century barns, the first of eight weekend market days that run to 20 December; see our Hereford Christmas market page (Lyde Court).

Hereford City Council’s civic Remembrance parade and service at the war memorial in St Peter’s Square is on Sunday 8 November by the council’s “nearest Sunday” rule, but it had not published 2026 times when we checked on 17 October, so it is not listed here yet; last year it began at 11am. Our Hereford Remembrance Sunday page has the details and will carry the 2026 times. The Christmas season has its own pages: the Christmas lights switch-on, the Christmas market, Cinderella at the Courtyard, and Christmas at the National Trust houses, which starts at Berrington Hall on 21 November.

Regular events

  • Hereford retail street market, every Wednesday and Saturday in High Town, run by Herefordshire Council (Herefordshire Council).
  • Hereford parkrun, every Saturday at 9am. A free timed 5k, two anticlockwise laps of the racecourse, starting behind the Leisure Centre on Holmer Road, HR4 9UD. On-site parking is £1 (parkrun).
  • In Print: 550 Years of Printing in England, Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4.30pm, until 10 April 2027, in the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library museum at the cathedral. Normal museum admission; the museum closes for the whole of January 2027 (Hereford Cathedral).

Getting there

The Courtyard and Hereford FC’s stadium are both on Edgar Street, and the Courtyard is about ten minutes’ walk north of High Town. The racecourse is on the A49 and A4103 north of the city.
