For Christmas Day in Hereford, most people land on the Green Dragon Hotel on Broad Street (five courses, £150), Miller & Carter at Old Market (£99.95) and the Greene King pubs around the city, where the Monument on Whitecross Road is the lowest price at £54.99. Every entry was checked against the venue’s own site on 2 November 2026.
We have not eaten at any of these for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry gives the price on the venue’s own 2026 menu, what it includes, what it says about deposits and paying, and its Food Standards Agency (FSA) hygiene rating. Prices are per person. Christmas Day 2026 is a Friday, and at every place in the first two sections the Christmas Day set menu is the only menu that day. The last section covers December set menus at places that are closed on Christmas Day or do not say they open.
Christmas Day in Hereford city centre
1. The Green Dragon Hotel, Broad Street
The Green Dragon is the hotel on Broad Street, a few minutes from the cathedral. Its Christmas Day Lunch is five courses in The Hereford Bar and Brasserie at £150 a head and £90 for children under 12, with tables from 12.30pm to 4pm.
The menu opens with a sweet potato tart, then starters such as tea-smoked pigeon breast, ham hock with crackling and black truffle parsnip soup; mains are roast turkey with marmalade stuffing, pan-fried cod with a chorizo cassoulet, Gressingham duck, overnight-roasted porchetta or a nut roast. The hotel says dogs are welcome in the Garrick Lounge between 12.30pm and 2pm.

2. Miller & Carter Hereford, Old Market
Miller & Carter is the steakhouse chain’s restaurant in the Old Market shopping development. Its Christmas Day menu PDF gives the “Luxurious Christmas Day Menu” at £99.95 a head.
Mains include a turkey paupiette stuffed with pork, caramelised onion and apple and wrapped in prosciutto, served with roast potatoes and pigs in blankets; starters include a duck, port and brandy parfait and a king prawn and smoked salmon cocktail. The Young Guest set menu is from £47.95.
The booking page asks for a £10 a head deposit on all Christmas Day tables, with full payment and a pre-order by 1 December.

Christmas Day at Hereford’s neighbourhood pubs
The four pubs here are run by Greene King, two under its own name and one as a Hungry Horse. All four want a £10 deposit for each adult when you book, with full payment and pre-orders by 1 December, and refund in full if you cancel before 11 December.
3. The Monument, Whitecross Road
The Monument is on Whitecross Road on the west side of the city. Its Christmas Day menu is £54.99 for adults and £25.99 for children, the lowest adult price on this list.
The menu PDF lists starters such as breaded brie wedges, chicken liver and orange marmalade pâté and a smoked salmon and king prawn cocktail; mains are hand-carved turkey with cauliflower cheese, honey-glazed parsnips and pigs in blankets, a turkey and ham hock pie, surf and turf, or a mushroom and Camembert bake. The pub’s own page describes the price as “four delicious courses” while the menu PDF says three courses, so ask when you book.

4. The Rose & Crown, Ledbury Road
The Rose & Crown is at 152 Ledbury Road, on the east side of the city towards Tupsley. Its Christmas Day menu PDF is £57.95 for three courses, and the children’s Christmas Day menu is £27.95.
Starters include smoked salmon on toasted ciabatta, a twice-baked Croxton Manor Cheddar soufflé and chicken liver and brandy pâté; mains are a hand-carved turkey dinner with a Yorkshire pudding and a pig in blanket, a salmon and prawn Wellington, a Cheddar, Double Gloucester and leek pie, or an 8oz sirloin with garlic king prawns. A menu with no gluten-containing ingredients is published alongside.

5. The Three Elms, Canon Pyon Road
The Three Elms is at 1 Canon Pyon Road, on the north-west side of the city. Its Christmas Day page offers “three delicious courses for £61.00”, and the children’s menu PDF is £29.
Mains include hand-carved roast turkey with sausage meat stuffing and a pig in blanket, a duo of grilled salmon and Black Tiger prawns, a cranberry-glazed nut roast with a vegan version, a 28-day aged sirloin with prawns and béarnaise, and a Cheddar and leek tart. 6. The Grandstand, Grandstand Road
The Grandstand is a Hungry Horse pub on Grandstand Road, next to Hereford Racecourse. Its Christmas Day page gives three courses at £62.99 for adults and £22.99 for children, the lowest children’s price here, and the menu includes a glass of Buck’s Fizz or a large orange juice for each adult.
Starters include breaded brie bites, a smoked salmon and prawn cocktail and tomato soup; mains are a traditional Christmas dinner, sirloin steak, grilled salmon and king prawns, or a mushroom and Camembert bake. The deposit is £10 an adult and £5 a child.

Christmas Day in Ross-on-Wye
7. The Royal Hotel, Ross-on-Wye
The Royal Hotel stands on Royal Parade above the River Wye in Ross, about 14 miles south-east of Hereford, and is run by Greene King. Its Christmas Day page gives three courses at £94.95 and the children’s three courses at £38.95.
Starters include a hot smoked salmon and prawn cocktail, a cheese soufflé with spiced pear and fig chutney and minestrone soup; mains are hand-carved roast turkey with duck fat roast potatoes, 10-hour slow-cooked beef cheeks, a duo of sea bass and king prawns, and Cheddar and leek or squash and sweet potato tarts. The deposit is £10 an adult and £5 a child.

These are Christmas menus for the run-up to the day. None of them advertises a Christmas Day lunch, and Cosy Club says it is closed on 25 December.
8. Cosy Club, Widemarsh Street
Cosy Club Hereford is on Widemarsh Street in a building it says dates back to 1621, with original wood panelling and fireplaces. Its Christmas page says the festive set menu runs from 18 November to Christmas Eve at “three courses from £29.95”, with sharing starters for the table, then a choice of main and pudding.
The chain’s price grid lists two courses at £29.95 and three from £36.95 to £42.95 depending on the day. It is closed on Christmas Day and suggests booking 24 or 26 December instead.

9. Castle House, Castle Street
Castle House is the townhouse hotel on Castle Street, by the old castle moat and Castle Green. It is running Christmas parties from Tuesday 1 to Wednesday 23 December: a Christmas lunch party at £55 a head with no minimum number, or a dinner party at £65 a head for larger groups.
The party menu PDF lists roast squash soup, oak-smoked salmon and a duck and parsnip spring roll among the starters, and roast turkey with sage, chestnut and cranberry stuffing, slow-cooked Hereford beef blade, fillet of bream or a spinach and squash nut roast as mains.

10. The Kilpeck Inn, Kilpeck
The Kilpeck Inn is a village inn with rooms near Kilpeck’s Norman church, about nine miles south-west of Hereford, and its kitchen talks about cutting “food miles” by buying from local suppliers. Its Christmas menu runs from 1 to 24 December and is pre-order only, at £39 for two courses and £44 for three.
Starters include beetroot gin-cured salmon gravlax and a confit duck, chicken and pistachio terrine; the mains start with a turkey ballotine with chestnut and sage stuffing.

11. The Cottage of Content, Carey
The Cottage of Content is a country pub at Carey, between Hereford and Ross in the Wye valley. Its Christmas page offers two courses at £32 and three at £38, Thursday to Saturday from 3 to 24 December, at lunch and dinner.
Starters include a prosciutto-wrapped duck liver and pork belly pâté, baked hazelnut-crusted brie and a vegan winter vegetable soup. Tables must be at least four people, with a £10 non-refundable deposit each and pre-orders by phone at least five days ahead.
