Sharon Stone has been diagnosed with a ‘large fibroid tumour’ after doctors missed it the first time round.

The Basic Instinct actress urged other women to seek further medical advice if concerned about changes with their body after going through her own mistreatment.

Sharing an update on her health with her Instagram followers, Sharon, 64, explained: ‘Just had another misdiagnosis and incorrect procedure. This time double epidural. W worsening pain went for a SECOND OPINION: I have a large fibroid tumor that must come out.’

She added: ‘Ladies in particular: Don’t get blown off ❣️GET A SECOND OPINION ❣️ It can save your life 🙏🏻💥,” she wrote Monday. “I’ll be down for 4-6 weeks for full recovery. Thx for your care. It’s all good.’

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the womb (uterus). The growths are made up of muscle and fibrous tissue, and vary in size. According to the NHS, many women are unaware they have fibroids because they do not have any symptoms.

Sharon has battled various health issues over the years, including the removal of benign tumours in 2001.

In her memoir The Beauty of Living Twice, released last year, Sharon revealed that the tumours had grown ‘gigantic, bigger than my breast alone’. However, when she came round from the surgery, Sharon realised she had been given larger breast implants without her consent.

‘When I was unbandaged, I discovered that I had a full cup-size bigger breasts, ones that he said “go better with your hip size”,’ she wrote.

‘He had changed my body without my knowledge or consent.’

That same year, Sharon suffered a stroke and cerebral haemorrhage at the age of 43.

Recalling how doctors told her she was close to the death, the actress said on the Today show: ‘The room was so silent. When the room is so silent and no one’s running around trying to fix you, that’s when you realise how near death is and how serious everything is.’
