JAKE PAUL VS BEN ASKREN

J

Jake Paul returns to the ring this weekend for what should be the toughest fight of his career in boxing so far.

After failing to secure a lucrative fight with former UFC two-weight world champion Conor McGregor, Paul and his team arranged a bout with former MMA fighter Ben Askren on the social media application Triller.

Strange mismatch? World’s weirdest circus act? It’s difficult to tell at this stage.

Paul is a perfect 2-0 as a professional boxer, but that record was achieved against a fellow YouTuber in AnEsonGib and a former NBA player in Nate Robinson.

Since the fight was announced several weeks ago, Paul, 24, and Askren, 36, have been engaged in a war of words and even clashed at their press conference recently.

Now they will meet in Atlanta on Saturday night to settle their much-hyped, but controversial feud over eight rounds of boxing.

Here’s everything you need to know about streaming the fight in the UK…

What time is it on?

The exhibition event will take place on Saturday, April 17 and is being held at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

UK fans can expect the action to get underway after midnight with the card getting going from 2am Sunday morning and the pair likely slated for around 4am.

Who is on the undercard of Jake Paul vs Ben Askren?

How can I watch?

The fight is being shown live on online streaming site FITE TV in the UK.

It will be a pay-per-view event for UK fans and will cost £17.

Social media site Triller will be showing it in the USA.

Fight details

Jake Paul and Ben Askren are fighting eight rounds at cruiserweight, meaning both fighters can’t weigh anything over 200 pounds.

Considering Askren fought at 170lb during his MMA run and was 174lb as a collegiate wrestler, you can expect him to be massively under that limit.

Paul, on the other hand, weighed in at 189lb for his last boxing match.

Undercard

British millionaire nightclub owner Joe Fournier is set to face Colombian reggaeton musician Reykon as part of the quirky undercard.

Meanwhile, former WBA super-lightweight champion Regis Prograis and ex-UFC heavyweight star Frank Mir will also be in action.

  • Jake Paul vs Ben Askren
  • Regis Prograis vs Ivan Redkach
  • Lorenzo Simpson vs Francisco Emanuel Torres
  • Junior Younan vs Jeyson Minda
