Channel 7 has managed to find out who leaked the video of news presenters Rebecca Maddern and Mike Amor slamming Novak Djokovic behind, what they thought, was closed doors.
Just as they were preparing to go live on-air for their 6pm segment, Maddern and Amor discussed their thoughts on the developing Djokovic case and his potential deportation from Australia.
Under the impression they weren’t being heard by a live television audience, the duo didn’t hold back in their assessments and unloaded on tennis’ world No.1.
“Whatever way you look at it, Novak Djokovic is a lying, sneaky, a***hole,” Maddern said.
“It’s unfortunate that everybody else stuffed up around him. To go out when you know you’re Covid-positive – well, I don’t think he was even Covid-positive.”
Amore then chimed in, adding: “You’ve got a bulls**t f**king excuse and then he fell over his own f**king lies, which is what happens right? That’s what’s happened.”
Incredibly, the raw footage – which wasn’t meant to leave the Channel 7 studio – was somehow leaked and eventually made its way onto social media where it instantly went viral.
Now, after Seven’s Director of News and Public Affairs Craig McPherson vowed to come down hard on the “underhanded” and “cowardly act”, officials have reportedly identified a culprit.
According to The Australian newspaper, Ai-Media are behind the leak and Channel 7 employees have been cleared of any wrongdoing.
It’s understood the external company provides captions for Channel 7 shows and have done for a few years now.
Ai-Media have now launched an official probe into the matter, conducting interviews with staff members to find out who recorded and distributed the video.
