In the gripping series time, bbc Sean Bean and Stephen Graham and will leave some viewers wondering if it is a true story.

IS BBC DRAMA TIME BASED ON A TRUE STORY?

While the series is not based on a real life story, creator Jimmy McGovern and the cast of the show went to extreme lengths to ensure the series was as realistic as possible. 

Stephen previously revealed that he shadowed a real prison guard to learn the ins and outs of life in jail. 

Speaking to The Telegraph, he explained: “I absorbed this fella like a sponge. These prison guards, they’re trying to do a job to the best of their ability. 

“Their job is to protect themselves, protect the prisoners and make it a nice, reasonable, cohesive place where everyone can do their time, treated with respect.”

WHAT IS TIME ABOUT?

Time is an emotional and high-stakes portrayal of life in a British prison.

Mark Cobden (Sean Bean) is consumed by guilt after accidentally killing an innocent man.

Accepting his four year sentence and separated from his family, he meets Eric McNally (Stephen Graham), a caring prison officer doing his best to protect those in his charge.

However when one of the most dangerous inmates identifies his weakness, Eric faces an impossible choice; between his principles and his family.

A story of guilt and forgiveness, punishment and penitence, both Eric and Mark are trapped by their pasts and unsure of their futures. Will they find the strength to move forward?

HOW CAN I WATCH TIME?

The prison drama is not on for long as it’s only a three-part series.

BBC aired the first episode on Sunday, June 6 at 9pm with the second instalment airing on Sunday, June 13.

The finale will air tonight, Sunday, June 20.

However, if you can’t wait that long all episodes are available to binge now on BBC iPlayer.
